About the Book
Grayson & Scout: A Team for Grayson is a gentle children’s picture book about a five-year-old boy entering foster care with his teddy bear by his side.
The story follows Grayson as he enters a new home with his teddy bear, Scout, by his side. Through warm meals, bedtime routines, caring adults, and small acts of love, Grayson begins to learn that he has a team around him.
This book was created to help children feel safe, seen, supported, and reminded that they are loved, valued, and never alone.
Why I Wrote Grayson & Scout
I wrote Grayson & Scout because some children face changes that feel too big for their little hearts. As a foster and adoptive dad, I have seen how much children need reassurance, safety, and steady love when life feels uncertain.
This story was created to remind children that they are not forgotten, not alone, and not defined by the hard things they have walked through. My hope is that Grayson & Scout gives families, caregivers, and children a gentle way to talk about big feelings, new beginnings, and the people who show up to help.
More than anything, I want every child who reads this story to know: you are loved, you are valued, and you are never alone.
